Public viewings & side events: Eurovision highlights 2026 in Vienna
The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna is getting closer and closer. The City of Vienna has now unveiled the official ESC programme — from public viewings and after-show parties to the ESC tram. We’ve rounded up the highlights for you.
The Eurovision Song Contest final will take place on May 16, 2026 at the Wiener Stadthalle. But that’s not the only chance to celebrate ESC in Vienna in full style. The City of Vienna is making sure of that, having just unveiled its extensive Song Contest programme — the largest side event programme in Eurovision history.
Key locations during Song Contest week 2026 include, of course, the Wiener Stadthalle. This is where both semi-finals and the grand final will take place.
In addition, the Rathausplatz in the heart of the city will become the main meeting point for Eurovision fans from Vienna, Austria and across Europe.
Eurovision Village: the fan meeting point in the heart of Vienna
The Eurovision Village is being set up by the City of Vienna and the Austrian public broadcaster ORF. From May 10 to 17, 2026, it will host up to 15,000 fans at Rathausplatz, with free entry. It is open daily from 2 pm until midnight, or until the end of the live shows.

On Thursday (holiday in Austria), the „ESC Frühschoppen“ kicks off at the Eurovision Village from 11 am. On the Sunday after the final, it remains open from 2 pm to 7 pm. Throughout the week, visitors can also enjoy daily programme highlights such as stage shows, concerts and interactive formats.
One highlight: in addition to public viewing of the live shows across 15 screens, performances by former and current Eurovision participants are planned. And speaking of the live shows — parts of the Ring road will also be closed for the three main shows so that up to 30,000 fans can join in.
Of course, with so many people around, food and drinks are a must: 14 food stalls will cater to the crowd, offering everything from Wiener Schnitzel and dumplings to döner, tapas and pasta — there’s something for everyone.
Opening Ceremony on May 10
May 10, 2026 marks the official start of Eurovision week in Vienna with the Opening Ceremony and the Turquoise Carpet event. It is the only moment when all 35 delegations appear together. Starting from the Burgtheater, they will walk in alphabetical order along the turquoise carpet towards City Hall. Around 10,000 fans can experience the event live on site.
EuroClub 2026: ESC parties at Praterdome
But even outside Vienna’s city centre, things will be colourful and entertaining during Song Contest week: from May 11 to 16, 2026, the EuroClub at the Praterdome will become a major party hotspot. As the official after-show venue, it will host a variety of events throughout the week — from public viewings and ESC DJs to a kids’ disco.
Wien Museum becomes the Eurofan House
When you say Eurovision, you naturally also say art: that’s why the Wien Museum will transform into the Eurofan House from May 11 to 16, 2026.
The free programme includes interviews with this year’s acts, panel discussions, talks, lectures, as well as activities hosted by OGAE Austria, Austria’s official Eurovision fan club.
Eurovision market contest at Naschmarkt
The new market space at the Naschmarkt is also joining in the ESC excitement: on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 2 pm to 7 pm, it will host the Eurovision Market Contest.
Visitors can look forward to a colourful programme—from culinary specialties of the participating countries to live music.

Mehr InformationenSilent sidewalk disco & ESC tram
Last but not least, here are two highlights for anyone who loves celebrating in unusual locations: On May 5 at 6.30 pm, the sidewalk becomes a stage. During a wireless headphone party (a.k.a. silent disco), the public space turns into a dancefloor. You can switch between two channels, where DJs Mia Legenstein and Dent will keep the crowd moving with their sets.
Also not to be missed is the “WL x ESC Bim” line 49 tram, branded with a Vienna “12 points” panel. This rolling stage travels between Volkstheater and the Stadthalle. On days without shows, it becomes a space for participatory formats like sing-alongs and jam sessions, where you can become part of the action yourself. Afterwards, it will be stationed at Karlsplatz near the Eurofan House at the Wien Museum.
